Passing it on

When we think about the Bakehouse, we picture more than just a place to grab a great coffee, catch up with friends, or swing by for your favourite sourdough loaf. Of course, we want to be all those things—but at the heart of it, we also want the Bakehouse to be a place for learning, sharing, and connecting through the joy of baking.

During the Covid lockdowns, bread making had its big moment. Suddenly, flour was flying off the shelves, sourdough starters were bubbling away on kitchen counters, and people were reconnecting with the simple magic of turning basic ingredients into something warm and nourishing. Since then, that spark has faded a little—but we’d love to help bring it back.

Baking is something we truly believe should be accessible to everyone. It’s a beautiful, grounding skill—part science, part art, and always rewarding.

At home, my kids absolutely love to bake. There’s something so special about watching them light up as they mix, knead, and taste their creations (usually before they’ve even made it to the oven!). Some of my favourite childhood memories involve baking with my own mum, and it’s one of the greatest gifts she ever gave me—teaching me how to cook, and how to share that love with others.

We want to carry that tradition forward.

That’s why we’re planning baking classes for all ages and stages—kids’ workshops full of floury fun, sourdough sessions for those wanting to learn the ropes (or level up their game), and pastry classes for the curious and adventurous. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned home baker, there’ll be something for you.

We honestly can’t wait to open our doors, roll up our sleeves, and get the aprons on. Here’s to learning, sharing, and passing it on—one loaf at a time.
